PRIDE OF WALES

Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy looks also to prolong his international career after being named in the Welsh squad that will be facing Mexico in a friendly match this month. Craig Bellamy's international career looked all but over after the death of manager Gary Speed.

Craig Bellamy was especially close to the former Bolton player and his loss almost made the former Blackburn striker announce his retirement from international football. However, it seems that time has healed the wounds of the loss of Gary. He has now been named in the squad that will face Mexico this month by manager Chris Coleman.

Craig Bellamy made an appearance for the national team in the Memorial match for Gary Speed. It was the 68th international match of his career. Many thought that it was also the last that we got to see Craig Bellamy at the international stage, but it now seems that he will now be part of the Welsh set of ahead of the World Cup 2014 qualifications. However, Chris Coleman has not included Aston Villa defender James Collins the squad. The Aston Villa defender has been in a poor form this season, while it got even worse when he was found guilty of a nightclub brawl recently.

Chris Coleman recently said that he wanted no player to pull out from the squad citing injuries because he sees the friendly as the ideal preparation for the World Cup qualifying matches. "If guys are genuinely injured, if they physically or mentally shattered then that is a conversation, but I don't expect pull-outs. I've picked a strong squad. We are not going there as an end of season game with a smile on our face. We are going there to get a result and a performance that is going to put us in a good way building up to the Bosnia then the Belgium game," said Coleman.
